On 1 June 2005 the Australian Domain name Authority is releasing a number of previously embargoed geographic domains to the general public. Domains like perth.com.au, bondi.com.au, alicesprings.com.au etc. The names will be allocated by auDA in a ballot system for a fee.

Over 40,000 names in total are being released. If you run a business or provide a service that is related to a specific city or suburb, these domains could be very valuable.

The applications for the first round ballorts are now closed. Domains not taken in the first round will be released for general registration some time in August. Check back with us for more information in the next few days.
